The Blackburn Rovers assistant manager wants to finally win against his former manager and help the Ewood Park side in their battle against relegation
Eric Black has admitted he is eager for his club to complete a double over Manchester United on Monday and in the process finally record a win over Sir Alex Ferguson.
Black wasn't with Blackburn when Steve Kean’s men stunned the Red Devils with a 3-2 win on New Years Eve.
The 48-year-old Scot, who was a regular in Ferguson’s highly successful 1980s Aberdeen side, believes United will go on to win the league - but would like to put a dent in their title ambitions and record another famous scalp.
"I've met him a few times but I've never been in a position to say, 'Well done' and we've taken the three points,” Black said.
"I would like to experience that but he's striving yet again to win the Premier League, and I can guarantee he'll be as focused as he was the first time he walked into Old Trafford because that's what he does."
And with the Old Trafford side looking to move five points clear in their clash with relegation-haunted Rovers, Black believes that United are clear favourites to claim a 20th league title - and that it’s due to their manager.
"Every time you win that title it's an extraordinary achievement. Although we think City have probably been the biggest challengers, Chelsea were massive challengers, Arsenal were massive challengers and he still managed to win the title,” he said of Ferguson.
"Any experience you've had ensures you deal with the situation a lot better the second time around and he's done it so many times.
“It's all new to Man City as a club, as supporters, as players in the Premier League. Some have won titles in other countries but not in the Premier League and he [Ferguson] is better positioned through that experience to win it."
